Cookies and storage
Sportybell sets cookies only for Google Analytics, and only if you accept them in the cookie banner. It also remembers a few things in your browser's local storage and, if you turn on notifications, installs a service worker. None of this is used for advertising.
What is stored
sportybell.device | A random identifier, so our server can keep your follows and alerts without an account. Kept until you clear this site's data. |
|---|---|
sportybell.favourites | The matches you pinned. Kept until you clear this site's data. |
sportybell.theme | Light or dark. Kept until you clear this site's data. |
sportybell.consent | Whether you accepted or declined analytics cookies, so we do not ask on every visit. Kept until you clear this site's data. |
_ga | Cookie, Google Analytics, only if you accept: tells visits from the same browser apart. Expires after 13 months. |
_ga_<ID> | Cookie, Google Analytics, only if you accept: keeps the state of the current visit. Expires after 13 months. |
Service worker
When you turn on match alerts and allow notifications, the browser installs our service worker (sw.js). It receives the alerts and shows them, also when Sportybell is closed. It does not cache pages or track anything.
Third parties
Our pages load no third-party scripts, fonts, pixels or trackers, with one exception: if you accept analytics cookies, your browser loads Google Analytics (from googletagmanager.com) and sends usage data to Google, as described in section 2.8 of the Privacy Policy. If you decline, nothing from Google is loaded.
Your choice
Storage that is strictly necessary for a feature you use (remembering your pins, your theme and your follows) does not need consent under EU and UK law. Analytics cookies do: the banner asks first, and Decline is as easy as Accept. You can change your choice at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page; withdrawing also deletes the _ga cookies from this site. Notifications always ask for your permission first, through your browser.
How to remove it
Clear the site data for sportybell.com in your browser's settings (usually under privacy, "cookies and site data"). Block notifications for the site in the same settings. In the apps, uninstall the app or clear its storage.
More about what happens to the data on our server: see the Privacy Policy.
